We are very pleased to announce the victory of Yermolay Sedelnikov in the 8th edition of the Coppa della Famiglia del Don and see it as an important step towards the vision of an all national team which has been Robert Safiyulin's intention for several seasons now.
Following an intensive program of training and racing, Chupacabra is now in a position to fulfil that dream and hopes to be able to field an all national team by the end of this season.
"We have trained so far about 20 riders and it has been a long hard road for us, but finally we are now in a comfortable position to be competitive with an all Kyrgyz team, hopefully at the highest levels." said Robert following the superb season of his young protégé.
While still a team of fledglings with an average age of just 26, Chupacabra start the season in the top division with an aim to improve on their previous best of 47th place way back in season 51 when they were a more internationally oriented team.
"I know we can do great things and I am looking forward to see what Foma can do in the division 1 cobbled time trials. I also hope to see Vlad perform well on the pavé this season, we may have to miss the Haute-Normandie, in which case we will target the division one classics later in the season, all things going well" he added. "...and of course, we are building a team to support Yermolay to defend the coppa at the end of season 57." - the protection of the talisman that is il Coppa dela Famiglia del Don has become an icon for the team and a symbol of hope in this dark world.
